Quick tips for credit unions from Brent Dixon

Brent Dixon, young adult advisor for Filene Research Institute, presented two sessions at the recent Illinois Credit Union League Annual Convention. The first was, "Attracting and Retaining Young Members"and the second was, "Design Thinking: A Human Centered Approach to Innovation."

You may not have attended his sessions, but he provided a few quick takeaways. These are things that you can do at your credit union right away to make improvements for your members.

Check out the other videos from the event, including a performance from The Disclosures and Mike Schenk's Economic Update.

Mike Schenk provides a quick economic update for credit unions

One of the highlights of many credit union conferences is the economic update session provided by one of the CUNA economists.

I caught up with Mike Schenk, the vice president of economics and statistics for CUNA, at the Illinois Credit Union League Annual Convention recently to get a quick economic update.

For more information, check out the slides from his presentation, "The Economy and its Impact on Credit Unions."

The Disclosures teach the history of credit unions

Last week, The Disclosures (Christopher Morris and Chad Helminak) facilitated a session, "Credit Unions in the Key of Awesome" at the Illinois Credit Union League 82nd Annual Convention. It was a music-filled session that emphasized the history of credit unions and what makes them different from other financial institutions.

Check out their performance of "Credit Union History (Fact)" from the session.

The Disclosures are the first thrift rock band. They have released an album, (Hey, We're) The Disclosures.

They have also written a couple songs for credit unions to use for no charge including: "Building a Better World" which celebrates the cooperative nature of credit unions and "Save" which promotes saving and thrift for youth.
